Claude works very well with XML tags inside a prompt. Not because it understands XML literally. because its training included tons of HTML and it learned to use tags as section separators.
Compare these two ways of asking for a shift report summary:
Summarize the report in one sentence: Bruno finished maintenance on module 4 with no incidents.vs.
When the input is short, you don't notice. When the input grows or contains words that look like instructions, the tags prevent Claude from mixing the content with what you're asking it to do. For Echo. who processes many similar reports a day. that's the difference between clean data and trash.
In this exercise you don't write anything. you just choose. Later, when you reach exercises where you write the prompt, you'll want this intuition already built.
